Karl Schwab is a third-generation pilot who comes to us from Houston, Texas. After graduating high school, he attended Texas A&M University in college station for three semesters and after thoroughly enjoying the Texas A&M Corps of Cadets ROTC program, left to join the US Marines. After serving in the USMC, he spent the next twenty-five years working as a software engineer for various defense department companies such as Raytheon Missile Systems, General Dynamics Amphibious Systems, United Defense, BAE Systems, and General Dynamics C4 Systems. It was during his time at Raytheon in the mid-nineties, that Karl saw a flier in the hallway advertising the “Raytheon Employees Flying Club.” Back in those days, he could rent an airplane for thirty dollars an hour, and so he began his aviation dream. After earning his private pilot’s certification in 1996, he began working towards his instrument rating and continued right into his training for a commercial certification at a part 141 school in Minneapolis. At the turn of the century, Karl then started flying several types of multi-engine aircraft, eventually receiving his commercial certification for multi-engine airplanes. Fast forward a good twenty years (after all four of his children graduated from college), Karl wanted to make a second career with his first love, flying, and made the switch to aviation full time. Since the Fall of 2024, he has been an instructor here at Inspire Aviation. While he currently works on shift as a Medevac Pilot flying King Air 200/C90 aircraft, Karl just recently earned his ATP certification at Flight Safety and brings over 3400 hours of total flight time and over 1300 hours of dual instruction experience to the table when working with students.

Jorge was my nineth checkride pass over the last couple years. He is an amazing instrument rated pilot and I'm excited for what is next with his pilot career. Go check out Shawn Crump at KREG in Lousiana - he is a great and fair DPE.
